Kari Forbes is an artist whose life long dedication to horses and her
art is coming to fruition. Her technical skill and ability to draw
almost photo real detail have given her exposure on the covers of several
national publications. But what many horse owners say set her apart
from others in her field is her ability to catch the true look and spirit
of the individual horse she is portraying.
Kari’s equine portraits hang in some of the finest horse breeding and
training establishments all over the USA, Canada, Australia, Egypt, and
Europe. She also has had several pieces of art in several galleries
in California and Oregon. Commissioned portraits of horses, other animals,
and people have kept Kari busy for 30 years and now she is making time
to follow her own unique artistic vision. Part of this branching
out process has been in the last 15 years and her successful entrance into
sculpting. Her first bronzes, and ceramics are studies of Arabian
horses.
Kari’s fascination with art and horses began as a young girl.
She spent many summers working on her Great Aunts horse ranch in Wisconsin.
Where she learned to ride and care for horses. She also did many drawings
and paintings of her Great Aunts animals. Owning her own horses didn't
come until adulthood with the acquisition of 4 B.L.M. Mustangs. Kari
is now owner of Fern Creek Farm in Dallas, Oregon and has 20 horses.
Arabians are her favorite and breeding the classic Arabian will no
doubt be a life long pursuit. Many of Kari’s horses have been selected
or bred for their beauty and are frequently subjects for her artwork.
Walking through her herd one is immediately struck by the friendliness
and ethereal beauty of the horses.
